New A6 Crossing
The A6 is the main arterial route through Levenshulme.
Our initial community-led research identified, through mapping and discussing, several high profile crossings and junctions that made it difficult for people to get across the road safely.
We believe that the impact of poor junctions and crossings leads to a severed community and we want to work to join up the dots, along the A6 and elsewhere in the filtered neighbourhood area.
One of the key locations that came up as an issue again and again was the area nearest Levenshulme Arcadia/Madina Mosque/ St Peter’s Church on Stockport Road/Barlow Road.
We will be looking at options to improve this area, with things like;
– A new pedestrian/parallel crossing
– Sustainable urban drainage (suds) planting
– Copenhagen-style side road crossings
We’ll be working with the community to develop a solution that improves this area and connects both sides of the A6 and its respective community services together.
