We had a really successful day back in October 2019 exploring options around the creation of Levenshulme’s first (and Manchester’s first!) on-street parklet.
We did the co-design as an activity to celebrate the launch of our online engagement tool – commonplace and the start of our partnership work with Sustrans, Bespoke Transport Consulting and Manchester City Council.
We spent a few hours showcasing and chatting about the 5 main project areas of the scheme and getting people’s views on them, images and reading materials all laid out on separate tables so people could have a look.
Help From Our Advocates
We had the lovely Helen Beesley using her Lego skills to build with kids, (and big kids) creating fun parklet designs on a mock up A6.
We also had Harriet Hall , local resident, artist and walking bus ambassador at Alma Park primary who came along to support the day and share updates/make props for walking buses with interested folks.
We’ve written up the outcomes of the parklet co-design and used this to get to work to to seek out designers with parklet building credentials to make the first draft sketch a reality! Have a read here!
